a paper cutter and a winner!

Hello my dears! I've been wanting to show off this adorable little antique paper cutter that Jeff's parents just sent me. (If they are reading this, thanks guys!)
Isn't it fabulous on so many levels!? The blade is actually still sharp, so I can actually enjoy using it.
Although the best part is that it is adorably compact. Just 6 inches across! Can't you just picture a cute little librarian or secretary in the 1940s, wearing a string of pearls, blouse, and the perfect up-do, sitting at her desk and using this? I love imagining the stories behind every day vintage objects. Makes me nostalgic for the person, place, and time I never had the opportunity to encounter...
Are you getting a bit curious about that little piece of paper I just cut?

It's announcing the winner of the snazzy Shabby Apple dress from last week's giveaway:

Congrats Nancy! Please shoot me an email with your mailing address and dress size at swell.life{at}gmail{dot}com!

I seriously had so much fun reading how everyone would wear the dress differently. There are some serious fashionistas in the crowd. I loved all of the stylish jewelry + shoe options!! If it's any consolation, Shabby Apple is offering everyone 10% off your purchase through March. Just enter livingtheswelllife10off at the checkout. I don't know about you, but some new spring things are definitely calling my name.

Ok, not going to lie. I'm totally bummed I didn't win the dress- even though I never seem to win anything! But had to tell you I hope you enjoy your paper cutter. I have a big wooden one and it is the best thing ever. It works better than the flimsy plastic ones and it can be resharpened to last several lifetimes. My mom found one at Hunt and Gather and I just saw another one out here and was tempted to get it and give it to someone.

I LOVE this post! How exciting! When my sister posted the picture of the paper cutter on my facebook wall I thought she was sending me a paper cutter, which I was very excited about, but I am overjoyed about a new lovely dress. Thank you!

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. It's the romance of vintage objects that I love so much.

That has got to be the cutest little paper cutter in the world. What awesome in-laws you have.

P.S. I'm planning to go on a major thrift store excursion sometime this summer with my mom and sisters. Any chance you know of some great places to go in the area?
