breakfast in bed

Yesterday was Jeff's birthday! Graham and I started the day by surprising him with a candle, croissant, and a groggy morning breath rendition of Happy Birthday. Up until this point, I could count the number of times I'd made Jeff breakfast in bed on one finger. How un-romantic am I? It's just that I've never been much of an early bird and I'm not keen on crumbs between the sheets. It turned out that my usual lame excuses worked in my favor, because I think he was truly surprised! The menu was super simple; it only took about 15 minutes to whip it all together: An egg + cheese sandwich in a toasty croissant, cinnamon craison granola with vanilla yogurt, banana, and a glass of hand squeezed OJ. Of course I had to stop at the window outside our bedroom door to snap a few pics of the spread on a cute vintage tray. I wondered if Jeff would wake to the shutter sound of the camera, dreaming that he'd showed up at someone's wedding in his underwear?? You know the crazy kinds of dreams you have about your job?
This one is my fav and I just had to share it. Sky-high ISO, half-asleep birthday boy and all. Love you Jeff!;)

Making memories!!! Now that my big girls are old enough they love to surprise Caleb and I with breakfast in bed once in a while. Morning snuggle time is something I love and hope my girls will remember loving and pass on to their own families some day!

Graham is ADORABLE!! (I just noticed he has perfect eyebrows!)

thanks jenn! we're huge fans of morning snuggle too. if only graham was more into it, it could last longer than 30 seconds. :) however with food involved, he was a pretty captive audience. i definitely think the birthday breakfast in bed needs to become a new tradition!

I'm so with you on the crumbs between the sheets. :) I'll have to set that aside sometime and do this too. Love your simple but scrumptious menu. Kelly

Completely know where you are coming from on the crumbs in sheets thing - not a fan myself!

Beautiful memory filled photos xx

What a sweet wife you are! I have never, in two and a half years of marriage, made my husband breakfast in bed. Maybe it's time for me to give it a try!

It's so pretty! I have yet to successfully make breakfast for the hubby because he's always up before me! Good job!

That looks like pretty much the best birthday breakfast EVER. I might have to put in a request for mine now (giving the hubs plenty of time to mentally prepare himself, as it's not until April)
