a few random threads

Last weekend I went home to hang out with my mom (+ fam) for Mother's Day. Saturday, I dragged my mom along on a trip to my hometown thrift store where I collected this handful of pretty wooden spools in the perfect array of colors. Growing up, my mom kept a neatly organized tackle box full of embroidery thread in every single shade invented (she is a huge cross-stitcher.) I used to love opening that box and admiring the endless hues. I am grateful for a mom who among a million other things took time to nurture my creativity...She helped me craft everything from homemade scrunchies to gluing rhinestones to canvas tennies. Being a mom makes me appreciate mine indescribably more. It's fun to have a holiday to celebrate their unending work+love. Happy belated day, moms!

Beautiful shot! I love the bright, yet soft colors. Thrift stores are the best:) I really do need a bumper sticker that says "I'd Rather be Thrifting!"

My mom had an embroidery thread box too and she had each color wrapped around cardboard squares and labeled by color number and then in numerical order so it was a magical rainbow of thread!

I love thrifting, we actually took a little trip today and found lots of fun treasures! Those are great little threads. My mother did the same, and I don't think I ever fully appreciated it until I became a mom myself and saw her consistent unconditional love.

Jess...that picture is so lovely. It sounds to me like your following right in your Mama's beautiful footsteps...

And I am so excited to get to hug yours and G's necks and (hopefully) get to spend a little time chatting while you are here for Farm Chicks.
