Back in the day, I used to think my sil was a gourmet goddess (and a little nuts) for making hummus from scratch by the giant bowlful. Ignorantly, I used to buy it in the tiny tub at the g-store and spend $3/pop. This weekend I came to my senses and whipped up my first homemade batch in hopes of mending my senseless ways. Throw about 5 ingredients in the blender and you go from start to snack-time in 5 minutes flat. It is SO easy to make and tastes so much better than store bought! (And yeah, I do realize that these adventures in blending are becoming some sort of a theme...)
Of course I used Katie's secret recipe, which involves a scoop of cottage cheese for ample creaminess. And I still think she's a pretty amazing cook for publishing this and tons more scrumptious family recipes in her very own cookbook, {which btw, I'm really getting into lately!}
Just for the record, G went ga ga for this garbanzo bean delivery device, with a little chicken curry on the side. (That cracker's for you auntie Katie.) I realize we have an ethnic food identity crisis going on...but hey, it is America.

I've always wanted to try making my own hummus, but I've never tried. You make it sounds so easy! My husband loves hummus, so I'd better give it a whirl...
I'm all about the homemade hummus as well. I ate it all the time last year when I was trying to watch what I was eating. Then I looked at the nutrition label on the tahini...whoops :) Still, I think it's a great healthy snack. I'll have to try it with cottage cheese!
Wow that looks good! I'm all about easy, homemade foods and this one looks so tasty!
So glad you guys like it!! Elijah's always liked it too. He can even say "hummus" (and "tapenade") now! :) This pic makes me miss Graham!!
