Just 3 sewing classes down and I've already got a few projects to share!
Project 01. Made these PJ capris just in time for spring {and all of the lounging I'll be doing when baby comes!}. I used Amy Butler fabric and a teeny bit of aqua ric-rac to add some snazzy trim to the bottom. Project 02. A nursing cover for baby + me, based off of this tutorial. Although I'll admit it's a bit of a rip off of the Bebe Au Laits that retail for $35, I love that I custom made my own for just $10! {For those of you less immersed in the latest mama pop culture--nursing covers are the hip new way to discreetly breastfeed in public: they have an adjustable strap for your neck so a busy baby can't swat the blanket down, ample fabric to tuck around both of you, and most importantly, a wire/corset boning front and center so that you can look down, bond with baby, and see what's going on without the rest of the world joining you.}
Oh my goodness...what super fun posts these most recent three were! Love the jammie bottoms (especially the ric-rac), the nursing cover is very cute as well! These are wonderful...I got many miles out of mine with my last baby...never was good at nursing with just a blanket! Cute, cute apron in the second post too! Your S.F. post with your girlfriends makes me want to take a trip to California! Looks like you had so much fun with your girlfriends! What a special time right before your baby comes! Thanks for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you are really making me want to pack up and head to SF!! I have been there one time in my life. With my grandparents my freshmen year of HS. My grandfather was born and raised there and you could just see the joy on his face, it was like he was "home" again :) Secondly, I am inlove with your cute apron. You look SO adorable in it with your cute baby belly. You've got to be the cutest pregnant women I've seen. Ever! And I love your capri jammies! So cute!!! I wish there were sewing classes around here...I keep trying to find a few, but never can...Loved reading about your ventures and crafts, they are so cute and inspiring!!

I would so love a nursing cover like that (with the boning) for my next baby. I made my own with Elijah (the first was black/white pattern though and let in light - so he was too distracted by the pretty pattern to nurse) and neither had the boning - and I could have used it to make sure the latch was right, it was tough without it. Great sewing!!
ReplyDeletePS this post totally inspired me to make a list of my current projects (sewing and otherwise) - and I have 17 that I'm working on!! I love seeing the things you make because they always get me back to mine.
ReplyDeleteADORABLE pj pants!!! love that you put the aqua rickrack with that fabric! Great nursing cover too! Kelly
ReplyDeleteI left you an award on my page and you truly deserve it! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful projects! Could you publish the link to where you found those patterns?
ReplyDeleteThanks, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThe pj pants pattern is from the book Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross:

And the nursing cover was a free online tutorial. For some reason, the link I used is no longer working, but here is a similar tutorial:
