fresh

There's just nothing quite like a dozen farm-fresh eggs in the prettiest of pastels. You almost hate to crack open their pale blue perfection, except that you know they'll taste 10x better than last week's whiteys from the grocery store...

Pardon my little unplanned absence around here. For 1, I've been lending my laptop to my little bro, who has a gazillion college papers due and a fried motherboard. I figure his educational computer needs slightly outweigh my recreational. (Slightly.) It's amazing what you can accomplish around the house when not distracted by compulsive, hourly email checks and the time warp involved in web browsing. My computer time has become much more purposeful and conservative. It's a healthy little holiday.

2, G and I have been a bit under the weather. I worked nights last weekend and feel like it's taken me all week to bounce back. (I may or may not have slept through G's pediatrician appointment on Wednesday afternoon. Am now accepting nominations for the world's worst mama award.) Jeff has been ridiculously sweet, getting up with Graham in the morning and letting me sleep in. Awesome, I know. I would clone him and share him if I could. Plus, were it not for the down time, I never would have found time to plant my butt on the couch long enough to see Avatar. I'm officially the last human to watch it and I can officially say I understand what all the hype was about...

3, We started house hunting this week! And I thought finding my wedding dress was hard...This is the ultimate major league shopping excursion. We're definitely looking for something a little older and a little less cookie-cutter. To me, charm far outweighs amenities. I'd take hardwood floors, fireplaces, small bathrooms, and drafty windows over a luxurious, carpeted McMansion with central a/c any day. Our lease ends this fall so we wanted to start early and have plenty of time to nail down the perfect house in the perfect 'hood. It's a bummer we'll miss out on the $8,000 tax credit, but hopefully that means we'll have less competition and find some extra great deals in our price range.

Today is the end of the week and the end of April. How crazy is that? This week's giveaway goes to...

Good luck on the house hunting. We bought the 5th one we looked at... fell head over heels. Sometimes it's a blessing sometimes a curse, but there is nothing better than to come home to a place we can call our own.

We're househunting, too. You should know that there is talk of a tax-credit renewal. So, say a few prayers and maybe we'll both find our charming little homes and make out with good deals and some extra cash in our pockets next April 15.

Good luck!

I completely agreed on the charm factor over mc mansions. We are so happy to be living in an itty bitty farmhouse from the 20's. Right now we are just renting, but someday, when we're in the market to buy, I hope to find a great fixer upper with unique features!

I just saw Avatar on Friday... bleh. I'm glad you didn't love it either, because I felt like everyone else was so gung-ho about it! Best wishes for your house hunt... we bought our house last August, and it was quite the process! You'll learn a lot, and you'll end up with a wonderful nest!

I hope the house hunting goes well for you. We're on the hunt too and it's so exciting but hard not to get too excited and to be patient! I'm sure the perfect place is out there though, and it is fun looking for it. :)
