granny style

I just started taking knitting classes this week. I've been needing to expand my crafting horizons, learn a new skill or two, and maybe even meet some more nice San Franciscans. I showed up to my class on Wednesday, expectations and aspirations running high. Should I have been surprised to discover I was the only one there who was not a member of the AARP? I thought that knitting was hip again; I thought all of the cool urban girls were doing it. Not bashing my classmates--they had plenty to say about lavish trips to Bordeaux (sigh), the skinny on their latest colonoscopies (TMI), and why Barack Hussein Obama is the last good man on earth (TMTH!). And well, I survived...With nothing much to add to the conversation...but I learned a great new knitting trick or two. Even more than I can't wait to show you the finished product, I can't wait 'til knitting classes are over.

I hope your classmates talk more about their fun trips than their medical problems!

Oh Dear! That sounds like an...um...interesting class. : )

I've been thinking I need to expand my crafting horizons as well. I've played with the idea of knitting, but didn't want to just jump on the bandwagon. : ) But now, of course, I just really want to learn!!

Minus the Blue-Hairs, would you say a class is the best way to learn?

Hi, thanks for visiting read me... and leaving a comment! Sorry to hear that your class was not all it could have been!! Let's hope that it means you pay more attention to the tutor and that you come away with more new skills than you can shake a needle at!

Oh, that is too funny, classic even! You never know though, you might be pleasantly surprised and even make a friend or two, given some time. . . Ask them about their grandkids!

I'm starting a sewing class down in Sunnyvale in a few weeks. I'm praying for some hip urban girls as well, but I think that's way too much to ask. If you find out where all the crafty twenty-somethings hang out, blog about it immediately! :)
